It has been a goal of mine for a long time to have adequate singing so that I can sing while playing my guitar and not make everyone's ears bleed. Part of adequate singing is singing the correct note. If you have a guitar and sheet music for the vocals you can use the guitar to check your vocal pitch. There are two basic things to know, besides being able to read sheet music.

Fact 1: Male Vocals are notated an octave higher than they are sung


Here we see a high e note to be sung and how it is actually sung.

Fact 2: The high e string of the guitar is the highest e in the trebel clef
